How to do a hip carry with your Mei Tai



First off, I'm about 5 months pregnant here, so I'm tying higher than usual and I'm not getting chubby so don't you dare think that! Also, these pics are not great and I'm sorry for that. One day my Prince Charming will have time to take better pics for me (sigh).


First, I tie my mei tai on. I am centering it on my hip, but you can center it further forward or back. As I get more pregnant, I am centering my hip carry further back. That is purely a preference thing.


Now I toss my shirtless little guy on my hip.Buddy was not very cooperative on this day as he had a mild fever, so pardon his sour puss face.


I bring my front strap over my opposite shoulder (smooth and straight) and I let it lie straight down my back for now.


Now I'm taking the strap that would normally go over my left shoulder and I'm instead bringing it across my back and around to under Buddy's bum. Notice the other strap is still just hanging down.


I am tightening that strap and keeping is as smooth and flat as possible for comforts sake.


NOW I'm taking that strap that was over my shoulder and I'm pulling it as straight down as I can and trying to cross it very low as I bring it around to my hip.Remember, the smoother the straps, the better.


I could cross this again and tie in the back, but I'm feeling lazy so I'm just tying right under Buddy's bum in the front.


All done and ready to play!
